Job Summary
As the Supervisor of Projects and Initiatives you will lead project delivery in accordance with Minnesota IT Services standards, industry best practices and Project Management Institute (PMI) standards. You will be accountable for provisioning project management (PM), business analysis (BA), and quality assurance (QA) services in coordination with application development supervisors, staff, vendor and business partners to deliver high quality products. You will also supervise project portfolio management (PPM) ensuring the project lifecycle is achieved from ideation, initiation, execution, reporting, operational transition and benefits realization. This position also builds and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:
Position requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in IT project, program, and portfolio management.
Experience to include:
  • Project management practitioner experience
  • Ability to travel intermittently between MNIT facilities Agriculture, Board of Animal Health, Labor and Industry and Centennial Office Building as needed

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of lead work or supervisory experience in project, program or portfolio management.
  • Advanced human and financial resources management skills tied to effective and responsible results;
  • State of Minnesota procurement systems, rules, laws, and practices sufficient to ensure division procurement practices are consistent with rules and laws;
  • Business management skills sufficient to oversee a complex business and customer service operation;
  • Interpersonal and group communication skills including written and listening and ability to adjust messages to different audiences and situations;
  • Broad knowledge of information technology (IT) business systems in terms of architecture, design, development, implementation, operations and benefits realization;
  • Creative problem solving and an ability to influence timely decisions;
  • Ability to set priorities and to marshal resources to execute strategy;
  • Knowledge of techniques to build IT strategies and measure progress;
  • Ability to assess programs and projects for course correction and adjustment;
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a quickly changing work environment; and
  • Knowledge of project management industry best practices for service/systems creation, development, and generally accepted standards outlined in the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK).
